About

NonProfit Finder puts public IRS data on nonprofit organizations in a fast, offline-capable mobile app for anyone who researches, supports, or works with nonprofits. Search by name, city, EIN, or mission keyword across 17 states, open a full profile with mission, officers, revenue history, and contact details, then organize outreach with tags, notes, lists, and CSV or Excel export. Everything stays on the device.

The app is live on the App Store and in active development. An Android version exists and is in testing; it reaches Google Play in 2027.

What the app does

  • Search and filter by name, city, EIN, or mission keyword, with filters for state, category, revenue band, employee count, and more, plus saved filter sets
  • Detailed profiles drawn from public IRS filings: mission, officers, revenue history, employee and volunteer counts, contact details, and website
  • Map view with clustering for dense areas, and multi-stop routes handed off to Google Maps
  • Organize outreach with stage tags, notes, lists, and one-tap export to CSV or Excel
  • Offline first since the full database lives on the device; sync pulls the latest data on demand
  • No personal data collected; favorites, notes, tags, and lists never leave the phone

Technical Highlights

  • React Native + Expo with TypeScript throughout, on-device SQLite for the full dataset
  • TypeScript enrichment pipeline that ingests IRS bulk files (990, 990-N e-Postcard) and layers in websites, officers, contacts, and vendor signals scraped from each organization’s own site
  • Parallel scrapers with connection pooling, stall watchdogs, and socket limits so sweeps across hundreds of thousands of sites finish without exhausting the machine
  • Supabase Postgres as the central store the pipeline writes to and the app syncs from
  • Live on iOS with Android in 2027

  2. Data Pipeline that turns raw public filings into an app-ready dataset and keeps it enriched
